Giggster
If you’re looking for something totally different you could always look on Giggster. This is a platform that connects renters with truly unique event spaces, similar to Airbnb or VRBO, but not for vacations. There are hundreds of Vancouver spaces listed on Giggster ranging from studios and gyms to heritage apartments, cafes, retail stores, and more.
Options like Giggster are best for couples who like to think outside the box, who value unique spaces or who don’t mind searching through lots of listings to find that perfect hidden gem. I will also mention that most of the spaces on Giggster are smaller so this route is best suited for small size weddings or elopements.
Backyard Wedding
And lastly, my favorite option. It’s hard to get more personal than a wedding hosted in your own home or backyard. Some of my favourite wedding photos feature couples exchanging vows under the trees in their own backyard or on the property they were raised on.
At-home and backyard weddings are often best for smaller celebrations and for couples who want to create a warm and relaxed atmosphere. They’re great for memory-making, as you get to revisit your wedding location every single day. If you don’t have a backyard or your home isn’t suitable for hosting a wedding, you can always ask a friend or family member if you can use their space.
