When Nate and Katie tied the knot at the Prestige Harbourfront Resort wedding, I couldn’t have been more excited to document their story. I’m Kristina, a Vancouver wedding photographer who’s passionate about capturing the fleeting, beautiful moments that make each wedding unique. I know what I’m talking about, this isn’t a generic AI write-up. I live and breathe weddings, and after years of experience in both the modeling and photography world, I bring an eye for subtle details, natural emotion, and storytelling to every couple I work with. By the end of this post, you might not have booked me yet, but I guarantee you’ll feel like you know Nate, Katie, and their incredible day.

Nate & Katie

A Proposal Overlooked: How It All Began

Nate and Katie met on Hinge, and their story took them all the way to Seattle for a weekend of Blue Jays games. A 12-hour drive turned a “6-hour road trip” into an adventure full of unexpected challenges, panic attacks in traffic for Katie and some awkward, comedic moments for Nate. But all of that led to the sweetest proposal: after the game, the couple wandered to a quiet pier overlooking the ocean. With Katie pressed against his chest and his arms wrapped around her, Nate popped the question, down on one knee, holding an open box. Katie, utterly surprised, said yes, and that was the start of the journey that would bring us to a sunny, warm October day in Salmon Arm.

Getting Ready: Calm Before the Celebration

The morning of their Prestige Harbourfront Resort wedding started with anticipation and excitement. Katie slipped into her stunning white mermaid gown with spaghetti straps, while Nate and his groomsmen dressed sharply in navy pants, white shirts, and burnt orange suspenders and ties, perfectly complementing the autumnal color palette of burnt orange, dusty rose, and rusty red. There was laughter, a few happy tears, and the kind of energy that makes you know it’s going to be a day to remember. One of the highlights? Watching the kids, especially one particularly joyful flower girl, light up the room with innocence and pure happiness, it’s moments like these I live to capture.

There may have been some chaos while Katie did everyone's hair and makeup herself and a couple fought in the other room but I'll leave that part out. I mean what's a wedding without a little background drama?

Ceremony: Warm Fall Sun and Heartfelt Vows

The ceremony was intimate and full of emotion. The early October sun cast a warm glow over the waterfront, and you could feel the love radiating from every glance, laugh, and gesture. Family and friends surrounded the couple, and the thoughtful touches from color-coordinated attire to decor that mirrored the season, made the setting feel cozy, elegant, and unforgettable..

Portraits & Wedding Party Fun

After the ceremony, we took a short walk with the wedding party for formal portraits. This is when the day’s personality really shone, outrageously funny jokes, teasing, and bursts of laughter that left everyone in tears. These candid moments are what make weddings feel alive, and I always make sure to highlight that playful energy in every frame.

Reception: Dancing, Love, and a Night to Remember

The reception at the Prestige Harbourfront Resort carried the same warmth and energy as the rest of the day. After their first dance, Katie changed into a short black-and-gold corset-style dress paired with classic Converse, perfectly ready to dance the night away. Guests enjoyed the fall-themed decor, laughter filled the room, and every little detail, from family traditions to personalized touches, made the evening feel like a true reflection of Nate and Katie’s love story.

Personal Touches & Photographer Perks

I love returning to Salmon Arm, it’s a small town with charm, and I couldn’t resist visiting the farmers market beforehand to grab Katie and Nate some craft beer and bath bombs as a personal touch. Moments like these, small gestures rooted in our previous engagement session memories, bring a deeper connection to the day and create images that feel alive and genuine.

Insider Tips for Your Prestige Harbourfront Resort Wedding

1. Book Early for Waterfront Spots

The resort has stunning pier and waterfront locations; reserving early ensures you get your preferred backdrop.

2. Coordinate Fall Colors

Autumn tones pop against the resort’s natural setting. Burnt orange, dusty rose, and deep reds create warmth and vibrancy.

3. Take Advantage of On-Site Amenities

Use the resort’s proximity to the town and waterfront for unique photos, pre-wedding strolls, or casual engagement-style moments. Did I mention the extra large soaker tubs in all the rooms? Hit the farmers market for some bath bombs and enjoy.

4. Plan for Comfort During Outdoor Portions

Early October can bring unpredictable weather. Consider light wraps or blankets for outdoor photos while keeping your look stylish.
