A Penticton Lakeside Resort wedding in mid-May felt just like Krish and Kallan themselves; warm, vibrant, and full of personality. I’m Kristina, a local British Columbia wedding photographer, and capturing weddings like this is why I love my work. I know how quickly real moments unfold and how vital it is to notice them, so what you’re reading is the story of their day from my perspective. By the end, you might not be clamoring to book me just yet, but I promise you’ll be intrigued.

Krish & Kallan

From UBC to the Okanagan: A South Asian Fusion Celebration

Krish and Kallan first met at the University of British Columbia and reconnected online three years later. Their love story has always been a mix of playful surprises, like the “technically Kallan proposed first, but Krish still got down on one knee” moment in Quebec, and genuine connection. That same charismatic, joyful energy carried straight into their Penticton Lakeside Resort wedding.

The celebrations began the day before with a Haldi ceremony, a South Asian pre-wedding tradition full of colour, laughter, and turmeric blessings. On the wedding day, Krish wore a tan sherwani, and Kallan wore a dusty rose lehenga choli, reflecting the vibrancy and personality of the couple. Their ceremony beautifully blended Hindu traditions with the natural elegance of Penticton Lakeside Resort, making every moment heartfelt, lively, and unforgettable.

Changing Styles and Evening Glamour

One of my favourite things about this day was the evolution of their outfits. After the ceremony, Kallan changed into a second lehenga with a tan top matching Krish and a flowing blue skirt, perfect for photos and dancing. Later in the evening, the reception was a visual transformation: Kallan in a white ball gown with tulle and beading, and Krish in a light grey suit, ready for the light-hearted, joyful celebrations that would fill the rest of the night.

Private Wine Moment in the Rain

Despite the mid-May sunshine most of the day, it began pouring rain during a requested private moment. Kallan had wanted a quick stop at a local winery for a quiet glass of wine with Krish. We embraced the weather, and this intimate pause became one of the most memorable parts of the day, proof that even rain can create magic when you’re focused on capturing real connection.

Sunset Portraits (With a Shark Twist!)

We headed to the lakefront for sunset portraits, one of my favourite parts of a Penticton Lakeside Resort wedding. The beach and water create soft, glowing light, perfect for capturing couples naturally. Krish and Kallan couldn’t stop laughing at the official city signs warning of sharks and underwater tunnels, legends tied to Okanagan Lake and the Ogopogo. Only in Penticton, right? These playful moments, juxtaposed with serene lake views, made the sunset session unforgettable.

Reception Full of Energy

The reception was a highlight of the day. During speeches, the bridesmaids, none of whom were South Asian, surprised Krish and Kallan with a traditional dance, eventually getting the entire room up on the dance floor. That energy perfectly reflected the day: colourful, charismatic, and completely light-hearted. It was a joy to capture these authentic moments, laughter, and connection.
