As a local wedding photographer in British Columbia, I’ve had the privilege of capturing countless love stories but Richie and Jayme’s Loveleigh Lavender wedding in Yarrow, BC, was one that immediately drew me in. From the moment we connected, I knew this day would be full of personality, laughter, and heartfelt moments. You’re about to read the reflections of someone who was there, guiding the day, helping everyone feel comfortable, and preserving every fleeting emotion.

Richie & Jayme

Morning Calm & Pre-Ceremony Prep

It was a hot July day at Loveleigh Lavender, the kind of summer day that makes the lavender fields glow even brighter. Jayme got ready in a flowing white spaghetti-strap dress with a deep V and low back, while her bridesmaids wore soft pastel blue gowns. Richie and his groomsmen suited up in classic black suits with crisp white shirts and black ties. The calm energy of the morning helped everyone settle into the excitement and nerves, especially Jayme, who was worried about her dad enduring the heat.

Even before the ceremony began, I made sure coffee, laughter, and a little guidance helped ease nerves, so everyone could enjoy the day without worrying about posing or camera awareness. That’s the kind of day Loveleigh Lavender wedding couples get to live fully, one where photos happen naturally and honestly.

A Ceremony Among the Lavender Fields

The ceremony itself was breathtaking. Set against the endless purple rows and surrounded by eucalyptus and fern accents, it felt intimate yet expansive. As they exchanged vows, the sunlight warmed the farm and the couple’s love radiated through every glance. Richie and Jayme’s dog, the adorable ring bearer, added charm and personality that had guests smiling from ear to ear.

The heat made the moment a little intense. Jayme's dad experienced a heat stroke right after the ceremony, but as the day cooled, so did the nerves, and the atmosphere blossomed into pure joy. The love in the air became palpable, setting the perfect backdrop for every photo.

Portraits and Playful Moments

Even in the sweltering July sun, we captured vibrant and playful portraits that reflect Richie and Jayme’s personalities. I helped guide them through natural posing so that their connection felt authentic and effortless. One of my favorite touches was the funny apron Jayme’s friends gifted her during dinner, a nod to her messy-eater tendencies. Moments like that bring life and laughter into every image, turning simple photos into storytelling art.

Their bridal party and family members were just as fun to photograph, from candid laughs to tender father-daughter dances that made everyone’s hearts swell.

Reception Fun & Unique Touches

The reception embraced the couple’s unique style. Steamworks brought their food truck, serving burgers, chicken strips, and fries, Jayme’s favorite “kid foods” and it was an instant hit with all the guests. Small potted plants were given as favors, tying the day beautifully into the farm’s natural aesthetic. The vibrant purple of the fields, the farmhouse charm, and the casual yet elegant vibe made every moment feel lived-in and completely authentic.

Golden Hour and Unforgettable Moments

As the sun dipped lower over the lavender fields, the mood shifted to pure celebration. Guests laughed, danced, and lingered under the warm glow, taking in the farm’s beauty while enjoying the casual, joyful vibe that Richie and Jayme curated so effortlessly. Every glance between them, every quiet moment with family, and every burst of laughter from friends became part of the story I was documenting. Those are the moments that don’t need posing or planning, they just happen, and they are the ones you’ll remember forever when you look back at your photos.
